From Our CEO

Thank you for visiting Kipu. Since 2012, we’ve been hard at work creating the best technology to deliver the best treatment for Addiction, Disordered Eating and Behavioral Health disorders. I’m proud of what we have achieved, although maybe not for the reasons one might assume.

Let me start by saying that substance use is more than a spectator sport for me. It’s personal. Through first-hand experience with addiction in my family, I know what this disease does to people and their families.

I’ve witnessed how hard it is to seek help and then how challenging it is to find the right treatment center, with the right tools, to properly help people get back on the road to a better life.  It drove me to find a better solution. It still drives me today.

Kipu is the product of a passionate and dedicated team who have worked tirelessly to build and evolve an ecosystem of the best tools to help our clients deliver the best care to their patients. We take a holistic approach that goes beyond being a CRMEMRGolden Thread®, Outcome MeasurementsTelehealth or Billing—we have a higher calling because, again, this is personal.

When you get the KipuEMR, you get more than just software, you get a partner in fighting and treating addiction and behavioral health disorders. The KipuEMR was designed and purpose-built within a detox facility, in collaboration with real users – medical, clinical and administrative — who provided real input about what they needed to help achieve successful outcomes. Thanks to those early adopters, and the thousands that followed, today, KipuEMR powers more than 1,800 facilities and more than 80,000 users across the Behavioral Health spectrum. And recently, we achieved an important milestone:  One million episodes of care processed in Kipu.

Addiction, Eating Disorders and Behavioral Health disorders are pervasive, silent, and deadly diseases. Yes, diseases – they aren’t the product of lack of willpower or weakness.  They are chronic diseases that need proper treatment, monitoring, and support. This is why we do what we do, and to further our commitment to support this community, we pledge to donate 10% of our patient count to deserving facilities that help our veterans, destitute adults, and adolescents. To date, we have granted over $15 million to deserving treatment centers across the country, and we are still going strong.

A few years ago, I purchased 10 year old InRecovery Magazine and then formed InRecovery Press. I did this because at Kipu, we firmly believe that recovery is attainable, and we want to be a resource for those who are in the struggle. With this magazine, we have a platform to open the conversation and eliminate the shame and stigma associated with people who seek treatment. I can’t wait to share the new content with you.

We will continue to strive to provide physicians and clinicians with the tools they need to effectively do their jobs and help patients get better. We have built a best-in-class product because we know thousands of lives depend on us. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously at every level of our organization. We make ourselves available to our clients 24/7 365 days every year in support of our MISSION: “to make sure that every client uses our system to its fullest potential for the benefit of the people they serve, their employees and shareholders.” We believe that technology provides the lever to deliver better outcomes. Kipu is that technology.

Finally, I’d like to close with our VISION:  “We will improve Outcomes for our clients, both Clinical, and Financial.  We will do this by developing products to enable our clients to use Technology as a lever to improve Treatment and Revenue Cycle Management.”  We spend over $12.5mm per year on Development, all in The USA and never on foreign soil.  And since we serve one master—SUD, ED and BH, you know that we will stay ahead of every other platform as we eclipse their entire revenue by several fold in development alone.

I invite you to InRecovery Magazine or call me at any time and tell me what you think, ask me a question, and/or check in on our progress. We’re in this together.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Fiorentino
