Data Engineer

The Kipu Health Data Team is looking for a Data Engineer who can assist our team in our evolving goal of providing enterprise class solutions for our customers both internal and eternal. The Data team is responsible for gathering data from various sources and consolidating them into our data warehouse as well as the engineering of our business intelligence layers that leverage the data layer.

Here are the kinds of things you’ll be working on once you have completed our intensive training program:

As Data Engineer your primary task will be to design, build, and maintain various parts of the data warehousing and reporting infrastructure, including: requirements gathering/documentation, architecture, ETL development and data modeling.

We are a lean team and we all play multiple positions on the team (architecture, system administration, data evangelist, python developer, etc.). Your careful attention to detail and honed problem-solving talents will serve you well, as you develop not only visualizations and reports but have a key role in architecting our next stage data/analytics platform leveraged across the enterprise.

Qualifications for this position:

  • Degree in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar discipline.

  • 5+ years of professional, industry experience as a software engineer.

  • Experience with the design and operation of large distributed systems.

  • A passion for data, and an understanding of how to work with large data sets consisting of as well as willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies under minimum

  • Experience with data in various forms (data warehouses/relational SQL, NoSQL, JSON, unstructured data environments/PIG, HIVE, Impala)

  • Expert in a programming language such as Python or Golang, and their respective standard data processing libraries.

  • Strong working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

  • Proven knowledge of AWS including services in their compute, storage, databases, management tools, and analytics portfolio.

  • Comfortable with command line tools and data pipeline processing from a terminal.

  • Knowledge of build systems and version control systems such as Git.

  • Strong background in statistical modeling methods.

  • Basic business acumen, customer empathy, and a team player attitude.

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.

  • Enjoys a fast-paced work environment and the challenges it brings.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and learn new skills.​
